EV Smart Money is a private equity investment platform that provides customers with exclusive real estate investment opportunities.

Collaborating closely with the design lead, I conducted extensive research and user testing to better understand our target audience, identify market best practices, and determine the optimal design approach. Together, we developed the initial version of the product and successfully launched it in October 2022.

Challenge

Our investment platform integrates multiple service providers during the user onboarding phase. The main challenge is to design an engaging and seamless investment experience under technical constraints, for our target group.

Learn our target group

To gain a deeper understanding of the financial behaviors and interests of high-net-worth individuals, we conducted in-depth user interviews with eight clients from our license partner Engel & Völkers’ customer base. The research provided valuable insights into their digital habits, financial decision-making processes, and investment traits. These findings helped us refine our personas, giving us a clearer and more detailed understanding of our target audience.

Competitor research

We conducted competitive analysis, in order to fully understand the investment products on the market, to learn their best practices, practical UX patterns, and ingenious design for dealing with long onboarding flow.

User journey map

Aligning key stakeholders is crucial, particularly when the product involves multiple service providers and a complex back-end structure. To facilitate this, I developed an user journey map that provided a holistic view of our current services and highlighted areas for improvement.

We designed the initial user flow and tested it with real customers. The feedback revealed that users want immediate access to investment products and need more assistance and flexibility during the onboarding process. We leveraged these insights to continuously iterate and refine our design.

Design principles

From target group learnings and extensive user interviews, it gives us hints about how we should design our product. Therefore, we set several design principles as a set of foundational guidelines to help inform design decision-making, and to maintain a consistent and user-cantered approach.

Glance of design process

Our design process is highly collaborative, involving designers, developers, and key stakeholders. We begin with wireframes, followed by prototyping and testing, which accelerates our iteration cycle. It enables us to make informed design decisions that lead to well-executed final designs.

Design showcase

We tested the improved version with a few potential users and successfully validated several key design decisions. However, due to financial constraints, we were unable to continue testing and iterating on the product.
